Chemical Resistant Coating

For protection against concentrated chemicals and immersions, the coating should be increased using multi-deposits of PTFE, FEP and PFA and other similar materials. PFA is normally unaffected by chemical environments. The only chemicals known to industrial coatings are molten alkali metals and highly reactive fluorinated agents. Chemours Teflon® fluoropolymers are designed to handle the most aggressive fluids without concerns of process downtime due to contamination and reliability of components. PFA coated parts resist chemical attack and minimize the potential for undesirable contaminants to attack the substrate, even in the most aggressive chemical environments.

PFA and FEP coatings are aligned to the chemical processing industry and it is with these products that the ability exists to increase the deposition of the coating, thus providing for an enhance barrier coating against chemicals. For these types of powder coatings the electrostatic process would be employed. To ensure safety and purity requirements, Chemours offers a broad range of materials within the formulation of their products to improve the fight against chemical attack. PFA coatings are designed to be safe for food contact and are most suited for pharmaceutical applications.

Teflon® PFA coating is applied, for example, to the interiors of chemical processing chambers, providing high-purity and greater corrosion resistance. Abatement systems benefit as well as scrubbers and vessels for inks and dyes. Coatings can be applied to complete vessels or in particular areas as required by the customer’s specification.
