Thin & Thick Coatings

PTFE is a fluoropolymer that can be formulated into wet dispersions or as a powder. For maximum performance, accuracy and appearance, a thin wet coating (typically 10-30 microns) is best applied by using conventional pressurised spraying equipment. Other application method, electrostatic and bulk coating can prove to be less versatile for application. PTFE coating thickness is controlled by the specified coating system which has it’s own limits according to the product data sheet. Some PTFE coatings can be applied and built upon during the application process, powder coatings, such as PFA in particular, can be applied in multi coat layers. Coating thickness is measured in microns and defined as Dry Film Thickness (DFT).
